Irish Couchers/CS Mingle

Back in 2011, when I first arrived to Dublin, I met my first local friends thanks to CouchSurfing. Back then, there was a weekly social meeting in MacTurcaill's pub (now Ruin bar), and it was a great spot to meet other expats and travel-minded people.

After some years, that meeting stopped happening, and the other CouchSurfing events that were available did not have the same feeling.

In parallel, a space called the Mingle Market existed for a few years in Dublin, sometimes they even hosted parties. I liked the atmosphere there, I met who became my girlfriend for 2.5 years there, and also I liked the name.

In April 2016, I decided the Dublin CouchSurfing community needed an event that restored that old sense of community, and that made meaningful connections possible. And so, I started the weekly "Dublin CouchSurfing Mingle" meeting.

Almost two years later, it has become the main CouchSurfing event in Ireland. Attendance numbers keep growing, while the spirit remains the same.

While organising this, a group of "regulars" started to form, and we became good friends. When I travelled outside of Ireland, some of them started helping with the organisation.

By now, that group has almost completely replaced me, which makes me very happy. My project continues to live, and I made friends on the way, a great deal!

In 2 years you can visit a lot of pubs, so I spent last week working on making a map of all the places we visited with this group. So, here it is, along with the list of pubs. I will keep updating it as we visit more places:
